Be the Church
Sunday April 15 was an incredible day in the life of Stuttgart First BaptistChurch! We gathered at 9:00am as we do each Sunday, but from thattime forward the day was unlike anything any of us have ever experienced.
Following a time of prayer, more than
green t-shirts, gathered our supplies and took to the streets andneighborhoods of our city to “be the church” instead of just “go to church.”
Twenty-two teams spread out across Stuttgart to show the
love of Christ to our neighbors through various ministries. Cookouts wereheld at Bryant Park & Hickory Square Apartments; the entrance to the SHSstudent parking was landscaped; planters were built, painted and pottedfor the entrance of SJHS along with trashcan bins being painted; fooddrives were held for the ICCM Food Bank at Mayflower, Wal-Mart & door-to-door in several neighborhoods; a neighbor’s roof damaged during the2008 tornado was repaired; 7.2 miles of Stuttgart streets were cleaned oflitter; breakfast was provided for the men and women of the SPD & SFD;over 500 cookies were baked, decorated and delivered to food serviceproviders at local restaurants; doughnuts were purchased for customers ata local doughnut shop; cages were cleaned and animals walked and caredfor at the Animal Shelter; two homes received exterior renovations; weedswere whacked all over the community; gutters were cleaned & leavesraked for several homeowners; residents & staff at Crestpark enjoyedworship and a party, including gifts for everyone; breakfast was bought forseveral people at the McDonald’s drive-thru; the kindergarten playgroundat PAE was renovated, painted and cleaned; free laundry was providedat a local laundromat; cars were washed for free at a local car wash; and
