“Today was the start of the Kid’s camp we are doing here in Russia. It went so well! All of the kids were so well behaved and so sweet even though they don’t speak our language. After the camp, we walked to the hill that overlooks the city of Irbit. It was absolutely breathtaking! This picture is from the top with our group, a group from Omsk, Russia, and the pastor of the church. Praise God for what He is doing and will continue to do! Thank you again for your prayers and definitely keep them coming!! ” (from Marlee Maier)

In 2008, First Stuttgart entered into a three-year partnership with a small group of Baptist believers in Irbit, Russia. (link to Team Soar The purpose of our partnership is to:

  • Encourage confidence and faith in our Russian hosts,
  • Strengthen relationships and deepen connections between the Russian Baptist Church of Irbit and First Baptist Church, Stuttgart,
  • Work on completing the House of Prayer.

As a result of the work of mission teams in 2008 and 2009, the Church held an official dedication of their House of Prayer on October 18, 2009. They are now able to worship in the House of Prayer year-round!

Our partnership also includes providing financial assistance to feed and clothe families in Irbit that have been described as “the poorest of the poor.” These gifts allow Pastor Valera and his wife Lena to maintain regular connections with these families and introduce them to the love of Jesus. In 2009, First Stuttgart members gave $18,985 to this ministry! (Click here to join those giving to this ministry.)

Our next mission trip to Irbit will take place in June 2010. (Click here to indicate an interest in joining Team Irbit 2010.) We will be working on completing the second floor of the House of Prayer to be used for Children’s Sunday School. In addition, we will be exploring opportunities for future ministry partnerships such as a children’s sports camp, medical clinic, recovery ministry, ESL, etc.
